Hise Mabel Newsholme was a pupil of mine at the Preston High school for many years, and she has left on my mind a very distinct impression as a painstaking and conscientious worker with en unusually keen sense of the responsibilities of her position ne andgirl towards her parents, her colleagues and her teachers.

In Latin, History and English Language she came more especially under my notice, and I remember her accuracy in Latin, her grip of outlines and her interest in History, and her tasteful style in writing English.

Besides her long experience as a pupil in a public school, as the oldest of a large family she had opportunities early of exerting authority, and since leaving the Preston "igh School, she has studied German abroad, and has had considerable experience in teaching, so that she is well equipped for joining the staff of any school.
